Jouluinen näyteikkuna - Christmas show window

Meidän nukkekotikerholla, Nukkis-Ystävillä, on taas näyteikkuna Jyväskylässä. Tällä kertaa Suomen käsityön museolla. Meillä on myös museon aulassa Sokoksen näyteikkunasta tuttu kerrostalomme jouluiseksi sisustettuna, mutta teen siitä erillisen postauksen.

Our dolls house club has a show window display in my hometown again. This time it's in Craft Museum of Finland. We also have our apartment building decorated for Christmas in the museum's lobby, but I'll write another post about that.


Ikkunassa on seitsemän kojua, joissa myydään astioita, kukkia, käsitöitä, pihatarvikkeita, leluja, herkkuja ja joulukoristeita. Minun kojussani myydään käsitöitä. Puuvalmiit kojut on tehnyt tilauksesta Aulis Parviainen.

There are seven market stalls in the window in which they sell porcelain dishes, flowers, handcrafts, shovels and snowplows etc., toys, delicacies and Christmas decorations. My stall is the handcraft one. Unfinished market stalls have been made to order by a male member of our dolls house club.

Joulukuusi ja alusmatto - Christmas three and a skirt for it

Meillä on Nukkis-Ystävät-kerhon kanssa tulossa taas näyteikkuna, tällä kertaa jouluinen sellainen Keski-Suomen käsityömuseolle Jyväskylän keskustaan. Tavarat pitäisi viedä näyteikkunaaan 11. päivä, joten kiire jo tulee. Näyteikkunaan tulee joulutori ja sen lisäksi museon sisäpuolelle tulee pari nukkekotia ja meidän kerrostalo Sokoksen kesäisestä näyteikkunasta.

Our dolls' house club Nukkis-Ystävät has another display coming. This time it's a Christmas scene at in a handcraft museum's show window. The set up is scheduled for 11th of this month, so I'm going to be very busy. The theme of the show window is Christmas market. In addition there's going to be a couple of houses and our apartment building from last summer's display inside the museum.

Minä vaihdan mummonhuoneeni sisustuksen jouluisemmaksi, ja sinne tulee tietysti joulukuusi. Eilen sain koristeltua kuusen. Voi olla, että siihen tulee vielä suomenlippunauha. Latvatähti on tehty rautalangasta ja Fimosta, jonka maalasin kullanvärisellä akryylimaalilla. Olen ostanut kuusen Doloreksesta, ja siinä on aika ruma jalka. Vain sellainen puupalikka. Päätin siis tehdä siihen jalan peittävän maton.

 I'm going to change the decor of my grandma's room to a bit more festive one. Of course there's going to be a Christmas tree. Yesterday I finished decorating the tree, although I might add a string of Finland's flags to it. I made the tree-topper from wire and Fimo and painted it with golden acrylic paint. I have bought the tree and it has quite and ugly stand. It's only a piece of wood. So I decided to make a skirt for it.

Mattoon käyttämäni unainen huopa löytyi mummin kaapeista jo keväällä. Piirsin siihen ympyrän käyttämällä maalipurkin pohjaa mallina. Maton halkaisija on noin 11 senttiä. Keskusympyrän halkaisija on yksi sentti, mutta se olisi voinut olla pienempikin.

I found the red felt among my grandma's things last spring. I drew a circle on it using a paint can as a template. The diameter is about 11 cm. The diameter of the middle circle is 1 cm, but it could have been less.

Kuusenmuotoiset paljetit sain näyteikkunaprojektissa mukana olevalta Annelta. Ne sopivat mattoon kuin nenä päähän. Mietin, mitä muuta koristetta mattoon voisi laittaa, ja siten keksin Sinellistä ostamani 2 millin strassit. Nyt nuo kirkkaat strassit edustavat satavaa luntaa. Kultainen reunanauha on myös Sinellistä ostettua kullanväristä nyöriä (sellaista paksuhkoa, hieman litteää).

The Christmas tree shaped sequins I got from Anne, who is also participating in the display. The are perfect for the tree skirt. I wondered what other decorations I could use and then I remembered the rhinestones that I've got. Those clear rhinestones represent snow. The trim is a slightly flat golden cord.

Olen mattoon melko tyyväinen. Eikä tarvinnut ommella mitään. Kaikki hoitui liimalla.

I'm quite happy with how the tree skirt turned out. I didn't have to sew anything. Everything is glued in place.

Monen kuukauden synttäriswapit - Birthday swaps of the past months

En ole kirjoittanut tähän blogiin mitään kuukausiin, mutta en ole kuitenkaan ollut ihan tekemättä mitään. Olen joka kuukausi lähettänyt synttäriswappilaisille lahjat ja ostanut muutamia juttuja. Alla kuvat lähettämistäni lahjoista.

I haven't posted anything on this blog for months now. However, I have done something during this time. Every moth I have sent presents for the birthday swap participants and I have also bought some items. Below are pictures of the presents that I have sent.

Kirjottu verenpisarataulu / Embroidered fuchsia

Mummon huoneessa on nyt pieni kirjomani taulu, jonka sain viimein tehtyä valmiiksi. Tämä on Artecy Cross Stitchin malli Fuschia Bookmark. Pistelin sen petit point -pistoilla 40 count silk gauze -kankaalle. Ilman kehystä työn mitat ovat 2,2 x 6,3 senttiä.
  
On the wall of grandma's room hangs now a miniature embroidery that I finally finished. It's called Fuschia Bookmark and it's by Artecy Cross Stitch. I used petit point (tent stitch) on 40 count silk gauze. The measurements without the frame are 2,2 x 6,3 cm.

Virkattu päiväpeitto / Crochet bedspread

Tämän peiton tekemisessä meni kauan. Malli on ihan oikean kokoiseen päiväpeittoon, jonka tietysti vain tein hyvin pienellä koukulla ja Venne Colcoton -langalla. Mallin nimi on "wedding ring".

It took a long time to make this bedspread. The pattern is actually for a life-sized bedspread. I just used a small hook and Venne Colcoton thread. The pattern is called "wedding ring".

Kuten ehkä huomaatte, peitto on hieman leveämpi ylhäältä. Se johtuu siitä, että ylärivin kahdesta keskimmäisestä neliöstä tuli isompia kuin muista. Päätin, ettei se haittaa, koska siihen alle tulee tyynyn paikka. Nyt peitto on näytillä siellä Sokoksen näyteikkunassa. Kiinnittelin viimeisiä hapsuja vielä samana päivänä, kun roombox piti mennä sisustamaan.

As you may notice, the piece is a little wider at the top. It's because the two center squares in the top row are slightly larger than the others. I decided that it didn't matter because there will be a pillow underneath those squares. At the moment the bedspread is in the show window. I actually attached the final fringes in the same day that I had to go and decorate my roombox.

 

Mummon huone näyttelyssä - Grandma's room on display

Mummon huone on valmis, ja eilen kävin sisustamassa sen Sokoksen näyteikkunassa. Nukkekotinäyttely kestää siis Jyväskylän Sokoksen näyteikkunassa kolme viikkoa. Tässäkin meni taas aika tiukille. Liimasin vielä mummon tossunpohjat, tein peittoon viimeiset hapsut, laitoin mummolle hiukset, tein paidan ja laitoin kuvat tauluihin eilen ennen kaupungille lähtöä.

Grandma's room is ready. Yesterday I decorated it in the show window where it will stay for the next three weeks. Time was almost running out on me. Yesterday, before I went to decorate the box I still finished fringing the bedspread, glues soles for the slippers, wigged the doll, made the shirt for her and printed the two pictures on the back wall.

Tarkoitus oli vielä tehdä itse kattolamppu, puoliksi valmis kirjomus kirjontakehykseen ja kukka-amppeli ikkunaan, mutta aika ei niihin riittänyt.

I meant to make also my own ceiling lamp, a half-finished embroidery on an embroidery frame and a hanging plant in front of the window, but I didn't have enough time fort those.

Mummon sänky / Grandma's bed

Mummon sänky on vihdoin valmis. Aloitin sen jo aikoja sitten, mutta vasta eilen tuli valmista. Tämänkin perusrunko on tehty Freida Greyn kirjan ohjeen mukaan.

Grandma's bed is finally finished. I started this a long time ago, but only yesterday I made the final touches. The basic frame of the bed is made according to a pattern in the Freida Grey book.

Pallot sängyntolppien päissä on tehty Fimosta. Nuo metallikoristeet olen ostanut Doloresista.

The balls on the bedposts are made from Fimo. The metal ornaments I bought from a Finnish dolls' house shop.

Vielä on mummon huone -roomboxissa paljon tehtävää, ja aikaa on jäljellä 8 päivää ennen näyteikkunan pystytystä. Iik!

There's still lots to be done until the grandma's room roombox is finished and I have 8 days until I have to take it to the show window. Eek!

Mummon huone - Grandma's room

Sain jo luvan kirjoittaa kerhomme projektista blogiini, joten nyt voin kertoa, että teen mummon huone roomboxia Sokoksen näyteikkunaan Jyväskylän asuntomessujen ajaksi. Se tulee yhdeksi huoneeksi kymmenen huoneen kerrostaloon. Näyteikkunaan tulee nukkekotikerholtamme tuon kerrostalon lisäksi yksittäisiä taloja. Omani on niin kesken, etten voinut sitä ilmoittaa sinne.

I got a permission to write here about this, so I can tell you that I'm making a grandma's room roombox for a shop's display window in our town center. It will be a part of a ten room apartment building. Some of our club's other members will bring their doll's houses as well. Mine is not even nearly done, so I can't put it in there.

Tässä kuva hyvin keskeneräisestä boksista. Sänky pitää vielä maalata, tehdä ikkuna, kattolamppu ja kirjomus tuohon kehykseen sekä vielä paljon muuta. Kuukausi vielä aikaa.

This is a picture of the very much unfinished roombox. I still need to paint the bed, make the window, ceiling lamp and an embroidery piece for the floor frame among many other things. I have one month to do everything.

Huhtikuun synttäriswappi - April birthday swap

Synttärisankari Kirsi avasi pakettinsa jo jokin aika sitten, mutta vasta nyt muistin laittaa kuvan lähettämästäni paketista. Pussissa olevat tavarat ovat kauhoja ja muita keittiövälineitä.

The birthday girl Kirsi already opened her presents a little while ago, but I only now remembered to post a picture of my present. The items in the plastic are ladles and other kitchen utensils.

Kirjoja ja vodkaa - Books and vodka

Adlibriksessa oli Maria Malmströmin Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi puoleen hintaan, joten tilasin sen ja samalla pari muutakin nukkiskirjaa.

Maria Malmström's  Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi was at a half price on an online bookstore, so I bought it and two other miniature books.

Tänään oli myös Nukkis-Ystävien tapaaminen. Tilasin viime kerralla jäseneltämme Tiinalta mummolleni villasukat. Hän olikin tehnyt kolmet, joista sain valita. Valitsin siniset valkoisilla raidoilla. Olin ensin hieman skeptinen, että niinköhän nuo mahtuvat nuken jalkaan. mutta kuten alakuvasta näkyy, mahtuvat oikein hyvin.

Today we had our club meeting. Last time I asked Tiina to knit wool socks for my grandma doll. She had actually  knitted three pairs from which I got to choose from. I chose blue ones with white stripes. At first I was a little skeptic about whether they would fit my doll, but as you can see in the lower picture, they fit just fine.

Maaliskuun synttäriswappi - March birthday swap

No niin, nyt on maalikuun synttärisankari avannut pakettinsa, joten voi taas laittaa lähettämästäni lahjasta kuvan.

Now that he March birthday girl has opened her presents I can post these pictures of my present to her.

Pääsiäiskakku on tehty Fimosta. Posliinilautanen on ostettu, mutta reunakuvion olen tulostanut siirtokuvapaperille ja siirtänyt lautaseen. Hattarat on huovutettu. Kylpytossut kirjoin 40 count silk gauze -kankaalle. Tossun sisäpohja on satiinia ja ulkopohja, joka ei kuvissa näy, on valkoista ohutta nahkaa.

The easter bundt cake is made with Fimo. I have bought the porcelain plate, but I printed the design on decal paper and transferred it onto the plate. I needle felted the cotton candy. The bath slippers I embroidered on 40 count silk gauze. The inner sole is satin and the outer sole that you can't see in the photos is thin white leather.

Tossut mahtuvat oikeasti esim. Heidi Ott -naisnukelle. Tässä ne ovat mummonukkeni jalassa.

The slippers actually fit on, for example, a Heidi Ott lady doll. Here they are on my grandma doll's feet.

Ankkakuvio ei näy kovin selkeästi. Ensi kerralla pitää ehkä käyttää tummempaa keltaista.

The duck pattern isn't very clear. Maybe next time I should use darker yellow.

Mummon hame - Grandma's skirt

Sain neulottua tämän hameen jo monta viikkoa sitten, mutta vasta nyt sain aikaiseksi laittaa siitä kuvan. Käytin Venne Colcoton 34/2 -lankaa. Väri on muistaakseni Cassis. Sovelsin oikeankokoiselle hameelle tarkoitettua vanhaa ohjetta, joka löytyy tästä linkistä http://freevintageknitting.com/free-dress-pattern/bernat22/skirt-blouse-1395 Laitoin vyötärölle kuminauhan. Siitä tuli vähän paksun näköinen, mutta pitää katsoa, miltä se näyttää paidan kanssa. Nukke on Heidi Ottin. Sille pitäisi vielä laittaa hiuksetkin.

I actually knitted this skirt many weeks ago, but only now got around to post a picture of it here. I used Venne Colcoton 34/2 yarn. The colour is Cassis, if I remember correctly. I adapted a real size vintage skirt pattern that can be found here: http://freevintageknitting.com/free-dress-pattern/bernat22/skirt-blouse-1395 I sewed elastic cord in the waistline and it became a little bulky looking. I'll have to wait and see how it looks with a shirt. The doll is from Heidi Ott. I still have to wig her.

Ruostutusta - Rusting

Viime sunnuntaina meillä oli kerhossa ruostutusta. Paikan päältä ei ole minulla yhtään kuvaa, koska ruotustutusaine vaikuttaa kahdeksan tuntia ja itse ruoste oli valmis puolenyön aikaan. Ruostutin näin alkajaisiksi puutarhatyökaluja, kastelukannun ja soikon.

Last Sunday we rusted item in our dolls house club. I don't have any pictures of everyone else's items because the rusting agent takes eight hours to work and the rust had only formed at about midnight. This time I rusted some garden tools, a watering can and a tub.

Synttäriswapille jatkoa - Birthday Swap again

Joulukuun tyttömme palasikin takaisin ja sain tällä viikolla myöhästyneen synttärilahjan. Kuvassa oleva tyttönukke on aiemmin hankkimani. Laitoin sen vain esittelemään Annen tekemään upeaa mekkoa.

Our December girl Anne is back! This week I got a late birthday present from her. The girl in the picture is the one that I have bought earlier. I just put her in the picture to show off the Lovely dress that Anne had made.

Hyllykkö - Display shelf unit

Viimein sain valmiiksi hyllykön, jonka ohje löytyy kirjasta Making Dolls' House Interiors in 1/12 Scale (Carol Lodder jne.). Hyllykkö on tehty kolmen millin puulevystä, jonka osat päällystin puukuvioisella tarramuovilla, jota saa esim. Sinellistä. Kyllä oli tuskaa liimailla osia pikaliimalla (Erikeeper ei ollut tähän hyvä). Meni päällystyksiä pari kertaa uusiksi.

I have finally finished my display shelf unit. The pattern can be found in Making Dolls' House Interiors in 1/12 Scale by Carol Lodder et al. I made the unit out of 3mm wood that I covered with wood patterned adhesive plastic. It was such a pain gluing the pieces together with superglue (regular glue was even worse). In certain parts I had to rip off and replace the wood patterned plastic a couple of times.

Synttäriswappi helmikuu - Birthday Swap February

Helmikuun synttärisankari Päivi oli tänään avannut pakettinsa, joten voin nyt laittaa tänne kuvan siitä, mitä lähetin hänelle. Neulahuovutin itse pingviinin nukkekodin pehmoleluksi, laitoin mansikkasiirtokuvat valmiisiin posliiniastoihin, tein Fimosta marenkeja, vaahtokarkkeja, sydänkeksejä ja muumikellon. Itse kellotaulu on tehty tulostettavalla siirtokuvakalvolla. Kukat on ostettu.

February birthday girl Päivi has opened her gifts today, so I can post a picture here of what I sent to her. I needlefelted the "stuffed toy" penguin , attached strawberry decals to bought porcelain dishes and made meringues, marshmallows, heart cookies and a Moomin wall clock from Fimo. I made the actual clock face with printable water slide decal paper. The flowers I have bought.

Synttäriswap - Birthday swap

Keksin joulukuussa idean synttäriswappiin. Siinä on ajatuksena, että jokaisella kuukaudella on yksi synttärisankari, jolle muut lähettävät pienen lahjan. Joulukuu putosi pois kelkasta, joten 11:llä mennään. Minulla oli synttärit ensimmäisenä tammikuussa, ja alla on kuvia kaikesta mitä sain.

In December I had an idea of birthday swap. Every month there is one birthday girl who gets small gifts from everyone else. December girl has dropped out, so there are 11 of us left. I had my birthday in January, so I was the first to receive gifts. Below are pictures of all the things I received.

Leenalta karkkikulhoja, karjalanpiirakoita, ruusutaulu, käsilaukku ja matkalaukku.

From Leena: candy bowls, carelian pastries, framed rose, handbag and suitcase.

Johannalta tauluja, matto, avattava rahi, pölyhuiska ja karkkirasia, jossa vielä karkit sisällä ja josta saa tehtyä matkalaukun.

From Johanna:  paintings, rug, stool that opens, feather duster and a tin candy box that still has candy in it and that can be turned into a suitcase.

Tämä oli oikein jättipaketti. Tiinalta paljon kankaita, nahkaa, metallicharmeja, kakku, pikarit, muffinsit, lasipurkit, kalavuoka, pöytätabletit, miehen hattu, suklaalevy ja itse tehdyt vihreät keramiikka-astiat.

This package was enormous. From Tiina: lots of fabric, leather, metal charms, cake, goblets, cupcakes, fish mold, placemats, hat, chocolate and green pottery that she has made herself.
